The River House Apartments has debuted the largest solar power system ever installed at a multifamily property in the Alamo City.
The owners of the apartment complex along the Museum Reach of the River Walk, Hixon Properties Inc., tapped San Antonio-based Go Smart Solar to install a 168.5-kilowatt rooftop solar power system.
The project used 503 panels made by San Antonio’s Mission Solar Energy and 10 SolarEdge inverters. Go Smart Solar spread the array across the rooftops of two buildings. Connected to four power meters, the rooftop solar system provides electricity to the complex’s hallway lights, fans, elevators, trash compactors and outdoor lighting. The total cost for the system and rebates it qualified were not disclosed. Payback is expected to take less than 10 years. Read more.
